Getting a passport card is a simple process. The first step is to fill out an application. The application can be found online or at any passport office. Once the application is complete, it must be submitted to the passport office along with two passport photos and proof of citizenship. U.S. citizens can use a birth certificate or naturalization certificate as proof of citizenship. After the application is processed, the passport card will be mailed to the applicant's address. The passport card is valid for 10 years and can be used for travel by land or sea within the United States, Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean. For air travel, a passport book is required. Passport cards are not available for children under 16 years of age.
If you are applying by mail, you will also need to include a check or money order for the application fee. The fee for a passport card is $30.
