A marriage certificate is an official document that proves that a couple is married. In order to get a marriage certificate, a couple must first get a marriage license from their local county clerk's office. Once the marriage license has been obtained, the couple must then have their marriage ceremony. After the ceremony has been performed, the officiant will complete the marriage certificate and return it to the county clerk's office. The couple will then be able to pick up their official marriage certificate. In some cases, couples may need to provide additional documentation in order to obtain their marriage certificates, such as a copy of their birth certificates or divorce decrees. However, once all of the necessary documentation has been provided, couples will be able to receive their official marriage certificate.
